"My name is Iain Lindsay, I am the British Ambassador to Hungary. I am delighted to have been invited to join the Team of Curators.
Those who know me also know that I love Hungary and I am a fan of the language – a wonderfully difficult “secret code” that I try to speak, giving me a deeper insight into Hungary’s culture, literature, history, traditions and people, as well as a wide array of forward-looking, innovative projects and initiatives.
In my 3 and a half years as Ambassador here, I have had the privilege to meet and collaborate with some of the best minds of Hungary: eg artists, business people, scientists, educators, NGOs and charitable organisations that have all helped me and my team to strengthen bilateral relations between our two countries.
Having been a diplomat for nearly 40 years, and having travelled and worked around the globe from Bahrain to Japan, from Australia to Hong Kong, I believe I can offer a unique international perspective among the Team of Curators. In selecting my personal Highlights in Hungary, I will be looking for “standout” projects or achievements that have the most potential in a wider, international context, or which demonstrate an existing and “cutting edge” international collaboration involving a Hungarian partner."
