Art Market Budapest is Hungary’s most prominent contemporary art and photography event, largest annual contemporary exhibition and one of the country’s main cultural attractions, Central and Eastern Europe’s leading international art fair. At its last occasion, the fair presented thousands of works by more than 500 artists, hosted over 100 exhibitors from 25 countries of 5 continents and nearly 30 thousand visitors in 5 days. The event brings the world’s artist stars to Budapest, such as the legendary Michelangelo Pistoletto in 2019 and his Third Paradise project which is dedicated to sustainability and the environment, and is probably best known for the sculpture The apple made whole again.

Curator's opinion

"As one of the most significant international art fairs in Central and Eastern Europe, it is one of Hungary's most important contemporary art and photography events in many respects. As one of the largest annual exhibitions of contemporary art in Hungary and one of the most significant events in the creative industry, the fair is now an outstanding component of Budapest's cultural tourist attraction.

Michelangelo Pistoletto, one of the world's most prominent art personalities arrived to Budapest not only as a celebrated artist, but also to present his program ‘Third Paradise’ to the Budapest audience and start a related social forum. According to Pistoletto, artists have a special role to play in promoting and influencing the development of society and in preserving our culture in a way that respects the natural environment, as having natural connection with all segments of society through creativity, they can even effectively create social platforms."
