’Every Sunday' hot meals provided for people in need have to be nutritious, filling and very high quality.’ This is what the organization Heti Betevő (Weekly Portion) set out to achieve in 2013. The operation of the association of volunteers, which is independent of political parties and religious faiths, is based entirely on donations. The well-known local restaurants, bistros support the cause and goals of Heti Betevő by providing the meals completely free of charge, or charging only for the price of the ingredients. Originally a local initiative launched by a handful of volunteers, by today Heti Betevő has grown into a charitable community of multiple branches (In Budapest’s 7th and 8th districts, in Makó, Pécs and Székesfehérvár). They provide 35 000 portions of meals in all locations annually.
Heti betevő has a "crew" of circa 50 people in Budapest and 30 people in the countryside, also many volunteers join the charity work. Everyone adds their support according to their possibilities.
